LIMNOS is an active member of the Global Water Partnership network, particularly in the Sustainable sanitation Task Force. In the latest study of the use of sustainable solutions for wastewater treatment for individual settlements, which was conducted on the basis of a questionnaire in 12 countries of Eastern and South-Eastern Europe, it was discovered that the technical knowledge of sustainable systems is increasing. This includes various versions of plant treatment plants, stabilization and aeration ponds, infiltration systems, sludge drying reed beds.

All these systems are used in the region, but still to a lesser extent, as these technologies are insufficiently known. The second reason is in the required area, which is sufficient, especially in rural areas, where such decentralized systems make sense. The proportion of the population connected to treatment plants in smaller settlements is still too low everywhere, so we will continue our efforts to reduce this diffuse pollution source.
