Within the international project BIOREM, we have established a high-quality exchange of experts in the field of phytoremediation, aimed at removing emerging contaminants from soil and water.

A key research question is how to attach as many beneficial microorganisms as possible to plant root systems so that they can function as effectively as possible. At the same time, participating experts monitor which microbial communities develop under different conditions. This helps to better understand how the interaction between plants and microorganisms influences the efficiency of the remediation process.
