Floating treatment islands were designed and installed to treat leachate collected from the landfill body of a mixed municipal waste landfill in La Coruna, Spain. The activity is a part of the LIFE Green adapt project where LIMNOS is a partner. Treatment islands are placed in theleachate reservoir and represent the pre-treatment phase. The plants on the floating islands thrive despite the water pollution load and, currently contribute to a 40% improvement in water quality according to the COD parameter.
