Quality drainage for livestock ensures a higher level of well-being of farmed animals, and at the same time ensures adequate treatment of leachate. The livestock area is arranged with a base made of wood chips and a drainage layer into which the water drains. The sludge is retained in the top layer of wood chips, and the remaining leachate is treated in a plant-based wastewater treatment area with no outlet, thereby preventing negative environmental impacts. The resulting biomass as well as sludge and nutrient-rich water can be reused.
